This is how it all got started. My wife and I owned a Dalmatian and a Golden Retriever. We drove a “little” black Celica with “black” cloth seats. Here began my dilemma... We could not even fit ONE large Kennel or Crate into the Celica due to the sheer size of the crate, so obviously we were never going to fit TWO crates into the car to house both our dogs! The result? No crates in the car, and both dogs rode sitting, standing or laying in the back seat.

Next problem.... HAIR.
And lots of it!

Remember the “black” cloth seats? Well by the end of one of our long trips between Tulsa and Kansas City, those black seats became covered in White and Golden dog hair. And if you’ve ever tried to get the short Dalmatian hair out of cloth seats... You may be able to sense my frustration!!!
It was indeed a mess, and even with several blankets covering all the seats, the dog hair still managed to find its way into the cloth, floorboards and seat backs!

What I needed was....
The Shed Protector!

So... I looked everywhere, in stores, on the Internet, at all types of products and dog clothes... but to no avail. I wanted a full body jacket for our dogs that would be lightweight yet durable enough to withstand the wide range of motion of a dog. I also wanted something I could throw into the washer, when we got home. Then I thought, how nice it would be to have some straps around the rib cage so I could help our older Dalmatian into the car. While I was at it, I figured the feet needed to be pretty durable, number one, so their toe nails wouldn’t rip through the material, or through someone’s Leather interior! And secondly, for the wear and tear just from walking on the pavement to the car! Then I thought it would be nice to have a long zipper up the spine of the dog, so I could easily get my dogs in and out of the thing! And lastly, I figured I would need a way to attach a leash to the jacket, just in case they didn’t want to cooperate with me! Then... Low and Behold..... The Shed Protector was born!
As the old sang goes, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" and the Shed Protector was born out of pure necessity!
No more sheets or blankets thrown over your back seat, quickly ending up in a wad on the floor board... no more heavy lifting to put a huge crate in your car, which may or may not even fit!
